2. In their words: Southern California has bred original, dark, sincere, and above all - real punk bands since punk's inception, and Orange County's Geisha Girls by all means continue in that tradition. For the last 4 years Geisha Girls have played just that - real punk rock. After some time experimenting with line-ups, Geisha Girls sound solidified around the trio of John Roller (guitars), Mike Shelbourn (drums), and Shawn Robert (bass and vocals). Espousing all gimmicks, Geisha Girls sound stands on its own - dark and concise with just enough abrasiveness. The trio has spent the last year playing over 100 shows, including 2 west coast tours, an appearance at SXSW, and supporting slots for legendary punk bands The Flesh Eaters, Angry Samoans, and New Model Army. On multiple occasions Geisha Girls have performed as the backing band for vocalist HR, doing entire sets of early Bad Brains material. September 12th sees the release of DISAPPEARING ACT, Geisha Girls debut full-length album on Number 3 Records and follow up to their self-released 12" ep and 7" single (both sold out and out of print). Clocking in at under a half hour, this is the perfect punk album. Recorded and Mixed by GG King at Radio Beat Studios in Bellflower and featuring artwork by Chris D. (of The Flesh Eaters/Ruby Records fame), Disappearing Act is sure to set Geisha Girls apart from the thousands of bands who have forgotten what punk really is.
