Biography
GDJYB or 雞蛋蒸肉餅 is an all girl Math-Folk band from Hong Kong, formed in August 2012. They play songs in Honglish (A mixture of english and the Hong Kong accent) and Chinese. The band features guitarist Soni#, vocalist Soft Liu, drummer heihei, and Bassist Wing. Guitarist Soni# uses a variety of effects on her guitar to produce a fully textured sound, whilst Bassist Wing is often playing intricate bass lines that gives them a driving, relaxed but happy feel. heihei's unique drumming style seldom features cymbals and fast rhythms, instead providing chilled beats using cajon, cowbell, tom drum, and many other percussive elements. Vocalist Soft's voice is just like her name: soft and flowing, relaxing and warm.
The math element in the band is characterised by the intricate song structures, clever riff placements, and gracious use of delay and reverb, while the indie-folk element is characterised by the relaxing, laid back feel.
The name comes from a local Chinese dish, literally translating to "egg steamed meatloaf".
