I LOVE FLA I like Skinny Puppy too but as much as I wanted to like them as much as FLA I guess FLA is way more straightforward and digestible in their music... which is good, I think... when I'm in the mood for more experimental chaotic, atmospheric dark industrial beats, I go for SP, but when I want to dance feeling like a hacker from the future, it's FLA FLA FLA FLA. Still haven't listened to their discography but they were one of the artists who were a breath of fresh air for me after many many years listening to mostly metal. I mean, this whole "industrial" thing too. Teenage me would have never expected i'd eventually grow fond of this type of music. FLA, Skinny Puppy, Noise Unity, Ministry, Nitzer Ebb, Lead Into Gold, Revolting Cocks, Front 242, Nine Inch Nails, Godflesh, etc.

One of my favourite bands ever. The best era goes from 1986 to 1994, for me. State of mind is probably in my top 3 albums ever.

FLA is probably one of my favorite bands for long time now, as i am growing older i must say that i am enjoying more their oldschool work like album Gashed Senses & Crossfire even enjoy early demo tape Nerve War which reminds me on Skinny Puppy Bites era. From newer releases i would say that Wake up the Coma is very good album, Echogenetic and Improved Electronic Device are aslo great albums, only i find latest album Mechanical Soul to be somehow weaker work but still is listenable. Also middle 90s era is amazing, probably the strongest one albums like Tactical Neutral Implant, Millenium, Caustic Grip and Hard Wired. Bill Leeb and Rhys Fulber are so productive and imaginative, probably this duo is one of my favorite musicians ever, i am also thinking on their other work as Cyberaktif, Delerium, Conjure One, Rhys Fulber, Synaesthesia...

Echogenetic has aged so well I can't believe it's almost 10 years old and is still my favorite FLA album.

I know right? I remember a time when everyone was butthurt by "Oh no, Bill Leeb writes Dubstep music now. How Lame." And now a decade later everyone considers it a newer version of the classics. (I'm not comparing it Hard Wired in any way. I believe it fits more into oldschool-EBM-classics category)

Baffles me when I remember Trent Reznor talking trash about FLA. He wishes he could make music this good

In one of the later interviews on the Live Wired VHS, Bill and Rhys are clowning on trent’s commercialized version of “industrial” music.

Any good starting points with this band, maybe some older and newer stuff for career span/evolution? For reference I'm very into Skinny Puppy (new and old). More synths/electro - less metal is preferable.

If you don't mind hardcore EBM and don't mind listening to Front 242 and Nitzer Ebb, check out such classics as Caustic Grip [1990] (spawned such hits as: Provision, Iceolate and Resist) and Tactical Neural Implant [1992] (Mindphaser, The Blade, Gun; also, I should mention that Lifeline has a melody and vocals very similar to the Testure, so you may dig it). Also you can check Gashed Senses and Crossfire, but I find it really boring (although it has two EBM classicsL Digital Tension Dementia and No Limit). If you're into techno, IDM and Download-like sound, it is possible that you would like [FLA]vour of the Weak [1997], although it is not really similar to Download. And finally, if you prefer 80s Skinny Puppy, check out all the pre-Caustic Grip albums and compilations: Corroded Disorder, The Initial Command, Total Terror etc.

And be sure to listen to Muteual Mortuary (a little Bill Leeb + Nivek Ogre collaboration) and Cyberaktif (which is Bill + Cevin + Dwayne and even Blixa Bargeld on the song Paradiessets). Plus, first two Noise Unit (FLA side-project) albums: Grinding Into Emptiness [1989] (produced together with Marc Verhaegen from Klinik) and Response Frequency [1990] (Rhys Fulber joined Noise Unit at that point. Marc Ickx from A Split Second + Luc Van Acker from Revolting Cocks are present too).

you should listen to tactical neural implant, and if you like it, caustic grip too, but caustic grip is more aggressive and hard-hitting, while TNI is a smoother album

that build up and drop on Resist around the 3 minute mark gets me so goddamn hyped it makes me want to jump like crazy while kicking shit. that snare hits SO HARD. it must work very well live, banging those snares like Nitzer Ebb. it's a shame it's not between the most listened tracks. people don't like Caustic Grip?

I own more than 50 albums and singles by FLA released between 1986 and 2009, but it still annoys me that TNI isn't on Spotify. It's a convenient music platform when you're not home and have access to your albums.

Disappointing new album. Feels rushed. Even demo like. I enjoyed the tracks Purge, Unknown and Alone and Last.fm doesn't scrobble Unknown.

Mechanical Soul is a great record to start the year, I like that this band continues to make quality music in the elektro genre, also their material of the 80s of Delerium is what I have heard most about these great boys
