Fluorescent combine ice-cold dance pop and razor-blade wall of sound guitars resulting in genre-bending songs fusing italo with shoegaze with acid house with goth. From Melbourne, Australia; songwriter & vocalist Simon Castricum is joined by guitarist Nicholas Ruljancich & Toby Kelly on drums.
Fluorescent began as a duo with Simon and wife Naomi, out of Melbourne’s burgeoning electro scene in 2001. After supports for Midnight Juggernauts, Cut Copy & Pnau, they debuted with their 2005 album 'Post Nuclear'. The album spawned a remix ep; 'Cattle Brand', featuring remixes from local djs Askew, Greg Dickinson, Harris Robotis and Peter Finger. Fluorescent’s studio contributors over the years include Finger, along with Aileen Corbett, Fiona Di Lanzo, Viva L’Amour & Nic Toupee.
In 2008 Fluorescent return with their second record 'Winter', featuring nine tracks inspired by the cold streets of Melbourne. 'Winter' is available from June 26 - check this website for more details on some free digital downloads and some limited edition sleeves online and in selected stores.
