Biography
First Mode is an alternative moniker used by an NYC artist more commonly known as The She-Devil, as well as its Spanish variant LaDiabla.
Ersatz Audio released her debut self-titled First Mode EP in 1995 and went on to contribute a track to the label's follow-up compilation Omniolio which also featured Detroit notables Lesseninglesson, Platex and label founder Adam L. Miller's solo act Artifical Material.
In 1996 LaDiabla relocated to New York City where she founded her own techno & electro imprint Spelunk Recordings with production partner Dave Chromatix and assumed her DJ pseudonym The She-Devil with her first weekly residency at East Village dive Element Zero playing downtempo and experimental techno.
