Biography
Fiona Dickinson is a British singer/songwriter currently residing in Michigan. "Fiona's music resonates deeply with her cultural heritage: A childhood spent in the windswept deserts of Saudi Arabia & Qatar, as well as the cold environs of Scotland & England. She writes dark and spaced out folk songs with haunting melodies that glow with sincerity. Her live shows are intimate and deep, begging the undivided attention of the listener. While the instrumentation of reverberated guitars, violins, and cellos are invariably complex and often provide unexpected hooks that draw a listener in, Fiona's most affecting instrument is her voice. Rich and mature, she drives it fluidly between sweetly-breathed coos and full-throated wails.
In the past, Fiona has collaborated with several musicians in the studio, onstage, and on the road as a touring vocalist and guitarist. Presently, she is focusing efforts towards her solo project. This year she has performed with such acts as Scout Niblett, Larkin Grimm and Frontier Ruckus. She recorded her debut album, Duende, in the autumn of 2010. The album is due to release January 14th, 2011 on Strutt Records.
