Biography

The past 2 years has been a whirlwind for East Lancashire (UK) rockers Exit State. With a successful debut album, a tour in Finland, a video playlisted on Kerrang TV, support slots with Blaze Bayley (Iron Maiden/Wolfsbane), Dave Evans (AC/DC), The Black Mollys, Witchfynde & Black Spiders you could be forgiven for thinking the band has been around for years. However, the early success of their high octane sound has been almost immediate, not least due to their crossover appeal to rock, metal, pop, punk, indie & alternative crowds alike….

“the true joy of this band is their refusal to conform to stereotypes, combining metal, pop & plain old rock n roll effortlessly & without apologies”
- Black Velvet magazine (“Death Of A Rockstar” album review)

“Satisfyingly heavy, unexpectedly catchy, unashamedly experimental and curiously engaging. Impressive”
- Rocksound Magazine (“Bad Days” EP review)

Lead vocalist & guitarist Roy Bright comments “The last 2 years have been amazing from first signing to King Prawn Records, to our professional management deal with Rocksector Records, the album release, the video on Kerrang TV.. its an awesome thrill ride for us. If you want something aggressive, edgy, dramatic & emotive our music has all that. We made a conscious decision to make every track different on the album. We cover such topics as serial killers, women, drinking, death, hating work… you know…. the usual stuff! We’ve been likened to Foo Fighters, Nickelback & Therapy but truthfully, although we’re proud of those comparisons, they don’t really cover it as we really are quite unique.”

So what of the future for Exit State? The natural plan is for a sophomore album in 2011 & writing towards that is already well underway, plus a follow-up music video will also appear soon. Meantime, however, the significant matter of a full UK Tour (October-December) is close-at-hand with no less than 20 dates confirmed, including 16 as special guests of the resurgent NWOBHM legends Marseille. The thrill ride continues!
