Biography

Emi Nakamura is a Japanese American composer, singer-songwriter, musician and music director. A native to the south suburbs of Chicago, she attended Homewood-Flossmoor High School and is currently a student at Princeton University majoring in Music Composition. Her compositions are highly versatile, ranging from jazz to atonal, but her most notable works are her contributions to Princeton's Department of Theater and Northlight Theatre (Skokie), where she collaborated with directors and playwrights to produce original music.

Emi's favorite projects, however, are the recordings you have now come across: in her spare time, she loves to create electropop covers of her favorite songs and toss in a couple of her own. She released her first demo album, The Two Extremes and In Between, in 2009 and an EP, Everyone "Knows" Everyone, the following summer.

Influences: Los Campesinos!, The Summer Obsession, Steve Burns, Au Revoir Simone, The Seedy Seeds, Matt & Kim, The Postal Service

Band Interests: Being intrigued by people. Trying to imagine myself in someone else's shoes and never quite getting there, and then being amazed by how everyone seems to get by.
