Dockery Dawgs was started in 1999 as an acoustic duo. Geir Engen Hansen (vocals) and John Ivar Reitan (guitar) released two albums and toured the land and sea until 2006.
They did several concerts in Notodden Blues Festival, and also they have played at Nidaros Blues Festival, Hell Blues Festival, Orland Festival and several others. They have played in blues clubs from Svalbard in the north to Kristiansand in the south. They have also played in blues festivals in Riga, Latvia and Östersund Blues Festival.
After a pause, they returned in 2010. Then they went along their old musical friends Odd Egil Gipling (bass) and Jomar Haarberg (drums). Now that a heavy electric delta blues band.
In 2012 came "SHAKE WHAT YOU GOT", the band's third CD and their first band
The music is heavy, jagged electric blues inspired by: RL Burnside, Junior Kimbrough, Hound Dog Taylor, Bukka White, Howling Wolf, Son House, and a good dose of self-composed material from the two albums MOAN (2002), TORN AND TWISTED (2004) and not to mention their new album SHAKE WHAT YOU GOT.
The title of the new album is a little tribute to the 90-year-old Mississippi blues artist: T-Model Ford, who used the expression each time the lady walked across the dance floor and attracted his attention when he spiltepå Notodden Blues Festival.
One thing is certain, - THIS IS TOUGH STUFF!!!!
