In 2023, a TikTok user posted a clip of Declan’s cover of Slipping Through My Finger from the Instagram live stream and it gained large amounts of attention on the platform, leading to it being a trending sound on the platform alongside the original ABBA version.
Declan McKenna decided to re-record the cover in full and released it on the 15th December 2023 as a single on streaming services, as well as adding the singles to his albums “What Happened to The Beach” to the single on streaming service to help promote the album which released early in 2024. Declan used re-recording the cover as an opportunity to use his new home studio, entirely recording and producing the track on his own.
Declan also performed Slipping Through My Fingers for the BBC Piano Sessions

This song is not performed live by Declan McKenna during his tours, but for the What Happened To The Beach tour the original version of the song was played after Declan’s set.
Declan McKenna’s cover of this track was often miscredited on social media, especially YouTube and TikTok, as a Paul McCartney AI cover of the song.
