Biography

Dave Brooks(Born in Sheffield 1951) is a singer/songwriter who wrote the theme music for the groundbreaking 1974 BBC documentary series The Family which was released as a single by EMI under the name of Mr. Brooks.He toured regularly and was the opening act for many bands including Fairport Convention,Chris Farlowe and Ronnie Lane's Slim Chance.He co wrote songs with Graham Dee which were released by Pye on Graham's two solo albums.Dave also wrote the theme music for many other BBC television programmes including Romer's Egypt,In Solidarity,Breakaway Girls the final series of Forty Minutes and Vox Pop which was released as a single on BBC records in 1983.He was also in a short lived band with Robin Scott(M)and his vocals can be found on the Robin Scott compilation cd Life Class on the song Now or Never.The Family appears on two compilation cds,Gather in the mushrooms and Magpie 20 junkshop pop ads and themes(Cherry Red/RPM)
