Biography
DJ Tonika - the first Drum And Bass lady in Ukraine is the cofounder of the powerful Funk Masters formation, the Ukrainian electronic label dnbsession music and the internet resource www.dnb.in.ua, as well as the professional DJing school “ParaDek”.
2001 was the start of her professional career not only as DJ, but also as a promoter who realized a great number of successful parties in the city with many world-famous stars in participation. Later (in 2003) DJ Tonika became an ideological inspirer and cofounder of the Funk Masters dynamic formation (Tonika, MaxNRG, Derrick, Qsto).
Her achievements include performing at the biggest club events and festivals in Ukraine, as well as at the main scene of Kazantip festival (2004, 2005, 2006) and “Schastie” dance poll in St. Petersburg (2002, 2004, 2005, 2006).
Today, Tonika is one of the most ‘in-demand’ dnb DJs in Ukraine. Every year Tonika manages to visit more than 40 clubs in Ukraine (Kyiv, Kharkiv, Lviv, Odessa), in Poland (Warsaw, Lublin, Krakow, Wrotslaw, Zakopane) in Russia (Moscow, St. Petersburg), Moldova (Kishinev), Romania (Bucharest, Yashy), Belarus (Minsk, Brest, Vitebsk).
Throughout her career as a DJ , Tonika published 6 mixtapes: «Drum And Bass Session» together with FM (VIRUS Production, 2003) «Drum And Bass Juice» (VIRUS Production, 2003) «Sweet Drum And Bass» (VIRUS Production, 2004) «Drum And Bass Game» mixed by Tonika&Derrick (2005) «70 minutes of Happiness» (Energetika, 2006) «Drum And Bass Sista» (dnbsession music, 2007).
Tonika is the author of the “Tender Session” project. The concept of this project is live music accompaniment to her drum and bass set. At the moment these are successful and popular works with saxophone (Martyn Tverdun), flute (Igor Lomaga), violin (Maryan Lomaga), grunt-horn (Vitaliy Gava) with ‘Voskresinnya’ modern theater actors participating.
In 2007 – Tonika along with DJ Derrick, composed various successful tracks Derrick&Tonika "I Love You" and "Lhotse". The latest spring 2008 marks the publication of a Ukrainian product at the world scene as it is released by Defcom, the top British label!
By experimenting with break beats, Tonika earned the status of a Break Beat DJ, offering people the breaks music with drum and bass consciousness.
