Biography
Conjunto Canayon the famous salsa orchestra of the 80s, led by the timbalero Cano Robles. The orchestra was integrated by the maestro Louis García - musical director of the orchestra of the National Day of the Zalsa, Pipo Pica, Rafael Lopez, Cheo Quiñones accompanied by the choir of Darvel García. Among his most popular songs are: Crecerá, Cosas del Amor and Sentimiento Borincano.
Conjunto Canayon was created as a concept of music & authentic exclusive sound, musician, percussionist and composer Cano Robles, in 1980. Cano Robles graduated from the Escuela Libre de Música de Puerto Rico, where he studied between 1961 and 1967. At the beginning of Seventy recorded 3 albums with the power of the Orchestra (formerly Puerto Rican Power). In 1976 he worked with Justo Betancourt and took an active part in the development of the Borincuba as a whole. Then, after returning from the US Army, he finished his master's degree in marketing and started to record first four themes of the CANAYON concept with his childhood friend Maestro Luis Garcia, who helped him create the sound concept. His Compadre (former Radio Head Radio Programming Director of Zar in Ponce, Guillo Droing) I liked the first cut of the recording session, a song entitled "Me Mykeyly Que" and then started playing in the air for a whole weekend. The rest is history. By Monday former chief administrator of TH Records in Torres de Mr. Frank of Puerto Rico (RIP.) Call my compadre (Guillo Droing) and asked him to record was that each body asked for on the street (former music center PR dealers) of Cerra, got my phone # and signed me 3 album and 2 options. The following Monday I was in the studio finished the 1. album. The original idea was a stage band formed by top recording artist musicians that when it starts to shine and does not give them the right opportunity to demonstrate their talent.
Which is remarkable in David Piro Rodríguez's first solo trumpet, (now recognized as one of the best trumpet players in the industry) the same will happen with pianist Luis Quevedo (recording star of the industry). Other superior personalities that happened to be part of the band of Canayon de conjunto where; Maestro José Coco Andújar on the flute, (he entered from Apollo Sound by Roberto Rohena), maestro pollito Sánchez, at congas (formerly with Rafael Cortijo and the time machine), Maestro Darvel García trumpet & Singer, Maestro José Gazmey bass, arranger and composer, (former student of Berklee College of Music) today José is considered the best recording bass player in the industry). Minor percussion of Maeso Cheo Quiñones, trumpet, choirs, lead vocal, (today Cheo Quiñones is the first voice of "Miami Time Machine" and has been with the Estefans of the last 20 years) and Master Luis García Tres, arranger, musical director, composer (Maestro Luis García has become one of the best musical arrangements and the producer of the industry for the last 25 years). As you can see the "Conjunto Canayon" quickly became a favorite of the audience in public relations, New York and the Caribbean and also among the musicians and every other album became a challenge between us as everyone has the opportunity to shine and show their individual and collective talent. The Canayon group: the most innovative and transcendental music group in the Latin music scene from the late 80's and early 90's.
