Cold Design is an electro-goth band formed in Voronezh, Russia, in 2004. The trio gained significant attention even before their debut performance due to the enigmatic presence of their frontman, Alex, whose association with mystical rumors and uncanny coincidences sparked intrigue within the local dark scene. This fascination heightened public interest in the newly established project, and locals eagerly awaited their first appearance.

According to Alex, otherworldly forces often interfered with both his personal life and the band's activities, causing delays in their debut. Eventually, the band made their first public appearance on the eve of Halloween in 2005. The event took place in a club built on the site of an old cemetery and featured Necro Stellar, a band notorious for their occult reputation.

Six months later, Cold Design's track was included in the second installment of the domestic dark scene compilation, *Colours of Black: Russian Dark Scene Compilation*. Unlike some other newcomers, the band caught the attention of reviewers. The Ukrainian Gothic Portal described Cold Design as the standout discovery of the compilation:

> "…the best among the bands whose names were unknown before this compilation. A Voronezh ensemble balancing on the fine edge of gothic electro, with a moderately electronic-guitar sound. An excellent track—just the right mix of aggression and melancholy, not particularly reminiscent of anything else. Arguably, the main revelation of the compilation."

In the following years, Cold Design became regular participants in local gothic events, including supporting the Finnish gothic rock band Two Witches during their performance in Voronezh. Despite facing technical difficulties and mysterious setbacks, the band managed to record their debut album, *Calendar Of Frozen Dates*, which was released by Shadowplay Records in the summer of 2006.

In December 2009, Cold Design celebrated their five-year anniversary and shortly after released their second album, *For Your Melting Souls*. Many tracks from the album were previewed to the public during the summer of 2009 at Russia's first gothic-industrial-indie festival, Dark Entries Open Air, where the band once again garnered positive reviews.

The new album, also released by Shadowplay Records, marked a shift from their previous work. According to the band members, it is more direct and aggressive, reflecting a changed approach to songwriting. The album consists of 13 tracks, featuring songs in both English and Russian, including two remixes. Despite the evolution in their music, Cold Design remains true to the Western standards set by bands like Terminal Choice and Clan of Xymox.

**Biographical Information**

While specific details about the band members' early lives and backgrounds are limited, Cold Design's music is heavily influenced by Western gothic and electro acts. The frontman, Alex, is noted for his charismatic and mysterious persona, which has been a driving force behind the band's image and thematic content. The band's formation in Voronezh, a city with a growing alternative music scene, allowed them to blend local influences with international gothic and electronic styles.
