Biography
Christine Kydd sings traditional Scots songs. She has recorded and performed as Janet Russell & Christine Kydd, and as a member of Chantan, Calluna (with Anna-Wendy Stevenson, Rebecca Knorr, Charlotte Peterson) as well as performing with Norman Chalmers, Barbara Dymock, and Sinsheen.
Originally from Glasgow, Kydd grew up musically in the vibrant Edinburgh of the 1980s where groups like The Easy Club, Jock Tamson’s Bairns, Sileas, The Poozies, Shooglenifty, among others, were forming. She was involved in many combinations of groups and bands at this time, and toured extensively with Janet Russell in the UK, Europe and the USA and Canada,and later joined the group which became Chantan (that used influences from a variety of sources including jazz and blues) and Calluna (with Anna Wendy Stevenson, Rebecca Knorr, Charlotte Peterson) as well as performing with Norman Chalmers, Barbara Dymock, and Sinsheen.
