Biography
Chris Herald is a progressive jazz saxophonist from Ohio. Pulling inspiration from just about every genre imaginable, Chris combines a vast technical knowledge of music with a creative passion for art. His latest compositions are progressive jazz fusion pieces inspired by various religions, together comprising a work entitled "Formæ Dei Proprii: Sketches on Religious Themes." The work was performed live at the University of Akron where Chris Herald recently graduated. Though not widely known outside of the jazz world, Chris's styles (both performance and composition) extend far beyond traditional jazz finding inspiration in classical, progressive rock, metal, and math. Chris is known for the use of tone rows and polyrythms in his compositions, leading to a complex and technically proficient sound.
