Back in 1981 four local bus drivers formed a folk band, writing and performing songs about their memories of their native mill town Oldham, England. They were featured in the National press and interviewed for the radio.
Over the years the band played the bus social club, benefit gigs, elderly care homes and set up a folk club called the Coal Hole in Greaves Street, which ran every Thursday for five years.
In 1985 they released the fifteen track album 'Muck There's Brass' which was recorded at the Pennine Studios, Ripponden Road, Oldham.
With a new lineup, Cheapside still practice and perform at the Social club at Mumps bus depot in Oldham.
