Biography
Café Mozart was set up in 1985 to explore late 18th-century repertoire for performance on period instruments. Our speciality is Haydn in England, notably the interaction between Haydn and the musicians with whom he was associated in his London years, especially William Shield and The Earl of Abingdon. We prefer to give our events in a relaxed atmosphere, if possible in the context of food and drink, but we are just at home with more conventional concert arrangements. A typical concert will comprise lesser-known repertoire, songs and divertimenti by Haydn and his contemporaries. However, our primary aim is to entertain.
