Biography
Born in Rochefort on August 19, 1962, French organist Bruno Beaufils studied music and law in Brest. He studied the organ successively with Jean Boyer, Michel Bouvard, François Espinasse and François-Henri Houbart. In 1987, he joined Brigitte François-Sappey's music history class at the CNSM in Paris. He was also a lecturer at the Instrumental Museum of the Conservatoire until 1989.
In 1992, he obtained a First Prize in organ at the CNR in Boulogne where he perfected his skills with André Isoir.
Supported by the Association Plein-Jeu, under the Honorary Presidency of Mrs. Yvonne Loriod Messiaen, Bruno Beaufils performs in many festivals in France and abroad, both as a soloist and in duo with harpsichord or voice, and orchestra.
He is regularly asked on the radio during programs devoted to French music, his favorite field. Nevertheless, he approaches with equal happiness romantic or contemporary composers such as Messiaen, Guézec or Escaich with whom he has worked on improvisation.
In 2000, he was appointed titular organist of the Organ of the Cathedral of Evreux.
His discography, which is enriched over the course of his research and discoveries, testifies to this openness of style or period to organ music:
1996 - Claude Bénigne BALBASTRE : Pièces d'Orgue du Manuscrit de Dijon & IIè Suite de Noëls. (Recording on the Organ of the Cathedral of Saint-Etienne de Bourges - Ref DPBB 01).
1999 - Une heure mystique - Works by Eric SATIE - Louis VIERNE - Charles MAGIN - Léon BOËLLMANN - Eugène GIGOUT - Baron Fernand de la TOMBELLE - (Recording on the CAVAILLE COLL Organ of the Church of Gerbéviller - Ref DPBB 002).
