Biography
Brooder (1996-2005) Pop-punk trio from Waterford City, Ireland formed in 1996 consisting of Mark (Dots) Doherty on vocals and bass, and Stephen Boyle on guitar and vocals. Drum duties were handled by a whole host of drummers, initially with Dave Whelan, then Jamie Grimes, Garry Doyle, Dave again, Hugh Kavanagh and finally Andy Walsh. Similar in sound to bands like Mr. T Experience, Zoinks, Naked Raygun, and The Hard-ons.
Brooder released their first EP "Evil Eye" through Texan independent label Waffle Iron Records on March 17, 1999. Three tracks, Evil Eye, Cream, and Little Man, were also released by FCE Records in 1999 as part of a compilation album. The follow-up EP "Heavenly Home" was on their own label Poop Monkey Records and was released in 2000. A third EP, "Mix Up", was released in 2003 as a CDR and Mp3 download.
Brooder disbanded in 2005. Steve and Dots went on to form post-punk band The Elliott Mess.
