Biography

(This info was uploaded by Brian Blum himself, but not written by me. I added a couple of details; the rest is from the album release and reviews written subsequently. I hope you enjoy the music! To God be the glory…)

Brian was born on April 22, 1975, in Syracuse, New York. He currently resides in Southeast Michigan with his wife and three daughters. Brian is locally well known for his solo work in church, as well as for several performances in various operatic ensembles. He aspires to be an opera singer, and yet has released his first album, "Trust Him" in a more contemporary Christian genre. For those wanting to hear a bit more of the "operatic" side of Brian, we suggest you listen to the last track, "The Lord's Prayer."

In his late teens, Brian not only began developing a passion for classical singing, but also experienced a deep renewal of his Christian faith. The Lord placed influential mentors and teachers in his path. His voice is classified as a heldentenor, a rare type combining capacity, the richness of the baritone voice, and the range of a tenor. Although his voice lends itself well to the operatic and orchestral medium, on the "Trust Him" project, he interprets the many and varied contemporary song styles (from tender ballads to country-rock) with inspiring clarity and warmth. Brian humbly serves his parish on occasion as cantor and soloist. His astounding gift enlivens the listener to worship the awesome God.

***A couple of reviews….

“Spectacular… this recording shines! Brian Blum has a truly beautiful voice; pure and sweet, strong and supple, manly and capable. He is the perfect interpreter of Ed Conlin's music and lyrics. The songwriting is rock-solid, the production is finished and its fervency of intent is absolute. God, not the singer, is truly the center of each song in this compilation. Beautifully conceived!”
-Tom Loewe, WDEO, co-host of “Notes from Above”

“These songs came from prayer and lead to prayer. Recommended.”
-Ralph Martin, Assistant Professor and Director of the Graduate Theology Programs in the New Evangelization at Sacred Heart Seminary, Archdiocese of Detroit; President of Renewal Ministries; host of “The Choices We Face” television and radio broadcast

"This is a wondrous CD! From Ed Conlin's beautiful interpretation of Songs of Songs, "Come, Ye Winds," to the longing, lonely prayer of "According to Your Word," to the spritely, almost country "My Portion, My Treasure," to the praise-filled adoration of "We Enter In," to the rousing, "Rise, O People Called to Worship" and in every song on this CD, there is music for every mood, for every style and for every prayer. The CD is strongly based in scripture and leads one to prayer and to appreciation of God's goodness, glory and beauty. The musical accompaniment is eclipsed only by the amazing voice of Brian Blum. This CD is well-worth owning and will be frequently played! It comes highly recommended! It is another in a long line of glorious CD's put out by this group!"
-Walter Korytowsky - Jackson, Michigan
