Biography
This is Breaking City Lights.
The name is a statement against everyday urban living, breaking free from the lights and dwelling in the darkness under the moon and starlight to find yourself in a natural state.This music reflects the view of finding yourself and living after pain takes it's course.
Sam Baer was born in Westlake, California on January 4th, 1991. When Sam first turned 10 he picked up his father’s Peavy Stratocaster and from there began to learn a variety of Punk Rock music playing at a fast pace and creating songs for his first band Broken Independence which didn’t quite take off as intended as Sam left about a year after the band formed to further pursue his drug addictions. 2 years of self-medicating himself through teenage depression had cut him off from his friends and family. Sam lost his 2 dogs after his parent got a divorce which plunged him deeper into the dark. Sam had given up playing guitar but kept his creativity flowing by writing poetry/lyrics for future songs in countless notebooks hidden in his house. He would entertain himself in his spare time with video games and the Piano during this time. After Sam failed out of 2 regular high schools he started to attend Apollo Cont. High School where his life started to really take a turn for the better. The people at Apollo became his support and the other students became his best friends and family. About a year into this new life Sam began to play guitar again and writing for his Solo project, Breaking City Lights, his first CD is “Sunshine EP”. Sam graduated from Apollo High School in June of 2009 and now hopes to finish the CD and get a record deal in the near future.
