Biography

Artist's real name is Boyd Livingstone. He was born in Stockport in September 1975. Was discovered to be deaf early the following year. Despite this, by the age of 5 he had started learning to play the guitar, piano and recorder. Following an operation in 1982, he regained his hearing. The person who first suggested to Boyd to write music was his teacher, Mrs Clarke, who encouraged Boyd to join particular music groups. As a result, Boyd wrote his first song on the recorder in 1985 aged 9. However, it would be another 3 years before Boyd would write another song. When he did, aged 12, he would continue to write music for the rest of his life. It wasn't until the early 90s when Boyd started recording his songs, however, this was only normal audio tape using a karaoke machine. In 1994, he started using computers to help him record his music. The result was a style change to something more electronic, and much improved sound quality. His music is heavily influenced by Hip Hop, Pop and Soul, but is much more experimental on some songs and tracks than in standard chart music. He has also been known to genre-skip (and as such has been compared to Moby) by incorporating other styles into his music. As of 2007, Boyd has been trying to get some of his old songs off tape onto a PC to be able to share his wares, which now cover 3 decades, with friends, family and anyone who is interested. In 2009, he will begin work on ASCII Art.
