Biography
A quality product of Adelaide water, three-piece Birth Glow gave ears the shivers with their debut proper release Ultimate Relief, released in 2007 and featuring eight haunted and idiosyncratic interpretations of folk music.
Birth Glow unite the levitating lead vocals of Ellen Carey (Fair Maiden, Clue to Kalo, ex-Jemima Jemima), Nick Walton's (Sweet Raxxx) sad baritone and the sparse melodic guitar and drum arrangements of Steph Crase (No Through Road). Together these housemates/bandmates oscillate between shivering naive-tribal with ghostly dual vocals like a droned, out of phased Lee and Nancy combo, pleasant pagan folk and partners in crime playfully handclapping pop songs. Birth Glow's fairytale soundworld runs parallel to White Magic, Buffy Sainte-Marie, The Manson Family and Beat Happening.
The band's enchanting and endearing beauty is equally breathtaking on stage where they have performed alongside the likes of Fabulous Diamonds, Macromantics, My Disco and Spider Vomit. In 2007 the trio embarked on an extensive New Zealand tour with Melbourne based ex-pats Batrider.
