"the collective soul and unconscious: chapter one" is the second EP released by South Korean girl group Billlie. It consists of five tracks, including the lead single 'GingaMingaYo (the strange world)'. The EP was released by Mystic Story on February 23, 2022.
The second mini album the collective soul and unconscious: chapter one also contains the solid worldview story that Billlie has presented so far. The various concerns and stories we experience in reality are expressed narratively through the medium of dreams, and all contents and messages such as music, lyrics, video, art, and style are tightly and coherently connected as one story, creating a unique story that touches reality while at the same time coexisting with mystery and fantasy.
This album, which has been completed even more so that listeners who like various genres of music as well as K-pop can enjoy it more, shows Billlie's musical confidence. The title song 'GingaMingaYo (the strange world)', a strong electronic pop genre by producer Shin Hyeok, which contains questions and emotions asked to oneself during the process of becoming an adult, and the tracks completed with the participation of top domestic and international K-pop producers such as minGtion, Mayu Wakisaka, Lee Woo-min "collapsedone", and Justin Reinstein, maintain a strong extension of the previous work and provide a unique experience that can be felt in existing K-pop. It reinforces Billlie's unique genre color that could not be found. In addition, choreographer Lia Kim of One Million Dance Studio directly participated in the directing, and performance art is added to complete Billlie's unique musical expression.
Through this album, Billlie announces the beginning of a journey to complete the two separate narratives of the Billage of perception : chapter one and the collective soul and unconscious: snowy night in parallel, and through this series, they express the reality surrounding us that intersects with their previous work, and episodes from dreams and the unconscious, with Billlie's unique mise-en-scène.
Billlie sings about the idea of authority by expressing adults and children, and asks philosophical questions about the reality we live in by expressing time and space.
