Born in Southport Lancashire, Berni Flint was a twelve times winning contestant on British talent show 'Opportunity Knocks' He eventually left the show undefeated. He had a hit record in the UK in 1977 with self-penned ballad 'I Don't Want To Put A Hold On You'

He was a 25 year old French polisher.

He almost didn't appear on the show when Thames television lost his contact details after the audition. An ad was put in the Daily Mirror newspaper asking Berni to get in touch with the station - which he did.

He made guest appearances on many television shows of the time and also hosted 'Pop Gospel', a music show for Granada TV.
