Biography

Benito Cabrera Hernandez is a composer and performer.

From a very young man he studied music and participated in various groups, both classical and traditional music. His work would see him have a place as one of the founding members of the Association Folk University (AFU).

In 1989 he won the Certamen Regional Soloists of Timple, organized by the Directorate General of Youth and, from there, he started a career as timplista to focus much of their work.

Benito Cabrera makes a renewal of the Canary Islands with music Timple, merging with musical elements of Celtic folklore and pop. He has collaborated with many artists at the Canaries.

Benito Cabrera has performed concerts in various countries such as Germany, Belgium, Norway, UK, USA, Uruguay, Venezuela, Puerto Rico, Japan, etc. It is also the author of several works for different formations, both instrumental with lyrics. Among these compositions highlights the theme A Christmas on the same sea, which reached great fame and came to be interpreted, among other artists, by Pedro Guerra and Rosana Arbelo.
