Biography
Bandex started out as a home studio project by brothers Nuno and Miguel Gelpi from Lisbon, Portugal. Using a sampler and a few instruments, mainly guitars and upright bass, they composed several songs with the intention to form a band to perform them live. In March 2003 the group takes form as Bandex with the arrival of Mario Moral and Daniel Meliço. With this line-up - Nuno Gelpi (sampler), Miguel Gelpi (upright bass), Mario Moral (guitar) and Daniel Meliço (drums) - Bandex has been playing frequently in their hometown, Lisbon, where they can be seen in places like Net Jazz Café, Frágil, Galeria Zé dos Bois or Lounge, and in other cities around Portugal. They were described by portuguese music press as "one of the most exiting and adult bands of the moment, a sound combined with wisdom and love". The band's first single, 'Nite Line' recieved significant airplay in Lisbon's radio stations Radar, Oxigenio as well as in national radio Antena 3.
