Biography

There is 2 different artists that used "Baabel"

Baabel* was formed by Stef McGlinchey in London in 1987 and split up in Edinburgh in 1993.

The Kreuzberg 88 EP was recorded in Berlin in October 1988 with Carol MacRae on vocals. Carol had been living in Berlin and working with famous German producer Conny Plank until his death the previous year. The EP was recorded at Thomas Hartmann's 8-track studio and features Sven Regener (Element of Crime) on trumpet. Sven subsequently found fame as a novelist, his first book 'Herr Lehmann' coincidentally chronicling life in the bohemian Kreuzberg district in the late 80's.

The original Kreuzberg 88 tracks were mastered onto 2-track metal cassette tape using a high quality Sony Professional walkman. Stef has added some digital enhancements and the re-mastered versions are being released by Integral in January 2010. Keep an eye on your favourite download store as the EP rolls out in the second half of January.

*Originally named Babel, the extra 'a' has been added to avoid confusion with current bands.
