Aryuserius

ARYUSERIUS can best be described as an “improvisational collective”. The project began in 1997 in a place called “Outer Space”. It was there that YL and Loton first met Paul DalPorto. Paul was a multi-instrumentalist who turned us on to several musical avenues we had merely touched on intuitively to that point. He took us from Death and Cynic to Brand-X and Allan Holdsworth. Soon the confines and dangers of Outer Space became too volatile for the collective to remain…thus the introduction of Inner Space. Inner Space allowed more freedom and varied musicians to join in with the ARYUSERIUS clan. Soon participants such as The Brooks, Wild Bill, and Seabrien began to push the music to new heights. Skills were “refined”…Sounds were tweaked…and organic music began to take shape. To this day ARYUSERIUS continues to find new members and hone our sounds. There are actually at least three separate incarnations of our music: YL’s solo ARYUSERIUS (true composed fusion tunes with highly volatile improvisational solos), ARYUSERIUS the group improvisation project in which members are invited for complete creation of new music in real time, and ARYUSERIUS’s little brother AADI (a collaboration of blues/fusion originals created to appeal to upwards of nine people).
This current release, “With Sunrise Behind Me”, features the incredible drum acrobatics of Joel Taylor and the jaw dropping bass work of David Hines. Recorded over the last 3 years using modern technology to send files via the web, we never sat in same room together, however the energy of a live, in the studio recording is maintained through the meticulous work and listening skills of Joel and David. Without them this project would still be a bunch of ProTools files in Pacifica. So finally we are ready to release the fruits of our labor. Writing, corresponding and recording which spanned nearly 10 years condensed into a listenable 40+ minutes worth of Electric Fusion audible onslaught!!
More recently I have had the pleasure to work with an outstanding keyboardist, Marc Paley, who will appear on two tracks on my upcoming disk; and Dave Hermocillo, a phenomenal bassist. Combined with Seabrien Arata, we are working on taking some of my material, some of Marc’s material as well as some new originals and covers to the stage! Please continue to follow and support this effort to expand the minds and ears of musicians and listeners through musical experimentation in our own Inner Space. -YL
