I really like their music, but the main vocalist really tests my endurance. I believe the correct English word for it is 'caterwauling'. The woman who sings Wishbone (for instance) has a much more pleasant and fitting voice, I wish they'd let her sing most of the time instead.

i have to say that i also initially thought this. i thought Places Like This was their ultimate. But... strangely enough, years later on a re-listen in the right mood, Now+4Eva has actually really grown on me, and I like it a lot

i felt that way too. and when Places came out i was like: wtf is this NOISE? Then one night, I understood everything (admittedly i was possibly in an altered state). It may also have something to do with my appreciation of arguable cheesy yet well-crafted pop (when it's good) such as Crowded House, Fountains of Wayne, or dance (Cut Copy) and being able to relate to the contemplative yet whimsical AIH lyric-style that have become kind of celebratory, presumably as the musicians themselves got older, and I also got older? I'd be interested to hear your thoughts

Interesting. I remember Places Like This being kind of...yikes. Granted that was in 2007 when it released, time may have changed my perspective. Always loved Fingers Crossed and In Case We Die, recently realized I never went beyond Places. Will have to reassess it and check out what I've missed in the mean time. :)

When You Walk in the Room, I Might Survive, Echo and April are phenomenal. Not their best album...I'd say on par with Places Like This in terms of goods songs to okay songs ratio

once you peak is there nowhere to go but down? i admit it's more like plateauing than skidding downhill, but all the same, there's something lacking in this one.

Finding it hard to even get through this one. In the Future had me excited atleast for another Moment Bends. But tracks 2 and 3 sounds like A*Teens covers or something, and Track 4 sounds like something off a kids show with bad singing. I'm confident I'll uncover some bops though...
