Biography

Alvin Smith's love of music started at a very young age. At the age of five he began his instrumental training with the trumpet. Eventually, he added string instruments beginning with the violin, then cello, and the bass guitar. Alvin sings baritone beautifully but prefers to play an instrument.
Coming from an artistic family; his uncle played trumpet for blues guitarist John Lee Hooker and his mother was a ballet dancer. Alvin loves the creative process and thoroughly enjoys collaborating with writing partners.
Alvin has written and produced songs for film and television from The Sopranos, Soul Food, JAG to Felicity and The Shield. He has also produced for performers such as Greg Walker of Carlos Santana, Noel and D.T. Peredes.
Alvin has written and produced songs on multiple CD's for Global Vision records and DRM Records. After several years of touring and performing with such artists as Billy Davis, Marilyn McCoo, Stephanie Mills and Philip Bailey, he began his song writing and production career.
Alvin established Mo'Jamz Productions in 1997. There he perfected his production skills and worked with artist such as Wron G (Warren G) and Thug Life. His mentor was James Gadson.
R&B is his favorite style of music to compose and he would love the chance to work with Neyo and Eric Benet. He looks forward to writing and producing songs with today's top artists. He is currently working on his own CD recording and launch.
In his future he would like to tackle symphonic works as well as broadening his musical horizons writing and producing ethnic music from around the world.
Besides travelling for performances he works out of his studio in North Hollywood California.
