Aluminum Dream - Strangers Calling

The group played as the in house band for the Castelia Foundation on the estate of William Hitchcock at Millbrook, New York. The foundation was headed by Professor Timothy Leary and was devoted into research into LSD experiences. In 1968 the group played for the opening of painter James Rosenquist's exhibition at the National Gallery in Ottawa, Canada. The same year, they opened for Janis Joplin w/ BB King second on the bill. They played every Wednesday night that year at Palm Gardens Ballroom in Manhattan with groups like Elephant Memory, and Group Image. Due to generous backers….first William Hitchcock and then Richard Feigen Gallery…the group was able to perform entirely without commercial opportunities. Despite interest in the group from a major label, no offers were taken up by their management and the group split in 1969. "Strangers Calling" is the only recording of the many original songs by the band to survive. It's a well-crafted psychedelic-pop rife with male / female harmonies, a driving organ riff and a classic "Penny Lane" style trumpet solo.

There is only one known acetate to survive.
