Biography

Alexa Ayaz bursts onto the scene with her new single, I Don’t Wanna Wake Up. Written by Alexa, the song touches on the premise of loss in love that balances the precariousness of new love with determination and inspiration. Currently making an impact with radio programmers and DJs across the United States, the single is gaining tremendous support and her first solo offering is bound to be the start of a long career.

House music and EDM fans and critics likely remember Alexa Ayaz from her feature on the Culture Code track, Slow Burn that debuted in early 2014 and received over 250,000 streams on SoundCloud and over a million views on YouTube. Critics at Dubstep.net and EDM.com recognized her powerful vocal skills and fans and music bloggers commented on her “beautiful voice” and “killer vocals.” In reviewing the song, Superbangers.com said, “ …with dreamy vocals from Alexa Ayaz and the head bopping house production from Culture Code this new one is definitely a must have!”

Born in Montreal and raised in New Jersey, Alexa’s parents instilled the value of hard work and determination from a very young age. Her father’s success as a self-made man serves as her inspiration that she too can accomplish anything she sets her mind to. Alexa began writing music at the tender age of 16. She felt lost in high school and found herself through music, both writing and performing. She had her first professional studio session at 19 and now at 22, her vocal performances and writing skills are sophisticated beyond her years.

Alexa draws inspiration from a range of illustrious vocalists including Aretha Franklin and Chaka Khan, to whom her parents introduced her as a child, and Christina Aguilera, Mariah Carey and Josh Groban, whom she discovered as a child that was herself so driven to music. These influences are audible in the clarity and power of her vocals. Her notably and well noted emotional delivery is a testament to her desire to touch people through music, just as those artists who inspire her. Her contemporary influences include Jazmine Sullivan and Sam Smith, but she distinguishes herself through the manner in which she combines genres – electro-pop-dance tracks with clear R&B and deep soul house influences on the vocals.

Alexa’s biggest strength as an artist is in her ability as a songwriter; her lyrics are earnest, intense and profound in a manner rarely seen in artists and performers of her age. As a songwriter, Alexa is determined to speak truth to others through her music. She aims to create something that people can relate to so that they feel that they are not alone. It is important to her that she sing about things that matter to people on a universal but deeply personal level.

Both Slow Burn and I Don’t Wanna Wake Up demonstrate her ability to inspire people through music while entertaining them. They are early indicators of a career just at its start and fans around the world are excited to see that future unfold for Alexa Ayaz!
