Biography

Blending rock music styles with incredible creativity and positive life messages, Alex offers a unique style with common and enjoyable threads. Integrating influences from the 1960′s to current day and layering accessible melodies and modern instrumentation, Alex Von Z pleases a broad array of musical tastes. Possessing a commanding, yet touching voice, Alex connects with listeners while weaving meaningful lyrics and topics into fascinating stories with compelling emotion.

Born Alex Seleznov, Alex grew up in the suburbs of Philadelphia, PA and Phoenix, AZ where music was part of his life early on. From early piano lessons to playing alto saxophone and trombone in elementary and middle school, Alex then found the love of guitar and rock n roll through 80′s rockers such as Poison, Motley Cure, and Guns N Roses. This love of rock music developed historically to pioneers such as Alice Cooper, Aerosmith, The Doors, Led Zeppelin and others as well as continuing forward with bands such as Buckcherry, 3 Doors Down, and Shinedown.

In 2001 while forming his first band since high school, Alex had a ‘Dark Night of the Soul’ experience in which he challenged the powers that be to speak to him in some manner; the result was a song that “wrote itself” called Duality. The song would later be released in 2004 as a single from the Vonzeles album ‘New Existence’. The band was produced by Ken Mary, an award winning Producer who started his career as a professional drummer before he turned 18. He became a highly respected studio and touring musician working with some of the biggest names in the music business including Alice Cooper, Gene Simmons, The Beach Boys, and his own band House of Lords. Vonzeles went on to record another album in 2007 “the Next One” featuring all new band members with the exception of Alex.
