Biography

Acid Looks is a rock band from Russia, Saint-Petersburg.

The story of Acid Looks began in July of 2013, when four members of a music band (its name remains unknown) decided to quit it due to the complete lack of understanding between them and the leader and also the songwriter of that band. Long time before this happened Acid Looks` singer Stevie Anthony had been playing with the guitar player Ilya Ovchinnikov and the drummer Andrew Stepanov in several projects including cover bands, while Nik Khasanov had become acquainted with them only in January of 2013 as a bass player. Shortly after the decision to create a new band had been made, Acid Looks began to work on new material including cover versions of famous rock bands, such as Guns N`Roses, Van Halen and others, all of them being a source of inspiration for Acid Looks.

The aspiration to become a serious music project led to the quick release of an early demo in September of 2013 called “The First Cut”, which contained 2 songs and a cover version of Led Zeppelin song. These demos let the band participate in some local shows. The understanding of the importance of making a new release led Acid Looks to start their work on the recording of a full-length album by following winter. However, a release was delayed till June of 2014 because of the problems with the drum player. During winter and spring of 2014 the band played several shows including the battle of the bands that was won by Acid Looks.

Soon after the release of their debut album “Looks Like Acid” the band produced a live video on the song “Cockroach” from that LP during their show in Jagger club. The release received positive reviews from listeners and critics. At the time Andrew decided to quit, though he still played 2 concerts as a drummer after making this decision. At the end of summer the band played a successful acoustic show in a local venue and recorded an acoustic cover on Guns N`Roses` “Sweet Child O`Mine”.

By the end of September of 2014 Acid Looks found a new drummer, George Leonidze, and started rehearsing old songs along with the new ones. By November they released a cover on Queen`s famous "Tie Your Mother Down", which is the last recording made with Andrew. In January of 2015 the band released a video introduction of George playing an extended version of their song “Turn Around”. The band is currently working on their second LP.
