Abstracted is a Brazilian extreme progressive metal band from São Paulo, founded in 2013. They blend technical death metal, progressive structures, djent influences, and atmospheric elements into a complex, cerebral sound.
The band draws from prominent modern progressive and technical acts like Opeth, Vildhjarta, The Contortionist, Between the Buried and Me, and The Human Abstract. Their music features intricate riffs, odd-time signatures, dynamic contrasts between heavy chugs and melodic passages, and a mix of harsh and clean vocals. Early work had djenty progressive death metal leanings, while later releases like Hiraeth show a more unified and polished approach.
