Biography

Aaron Freed is a musician and composer whose work spans several decades. Born in Atlanta, Georgia, United States, in 1983, he has lived in Florida since the age of five. Much of his music has been made available for free and is distributed under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike International 4.0 license, allowing non-commercial sharing and modification with proper attribution and documentation.

His album "Compositions 1993-1997" was originally created using a Yamaha CBX-T3 synthesizer and underwent several revisions, with the latest version available as of 2012. The album consists of pieces composed over that period, with minor arrangement changes made in 2008.

Freed has produced works related to the "Marathon" video game series. His "Marathon Remixes" album contains rearrangements of compositions by Alexander Seropian from the game's original soundtrack. This album was his first set of remixes for "Marathon" music. The "Marathon Chronicles" album features short remixes of tracks from "Compositions 1993-1997" and is also the name of a scenario he has been developing for the game series, although its completion status is uncertain.

The "Demos 2014" collection includes early piano performances, some covers, original compositions, and improvisations. These recordings are minimally edited and not intended as finished products, with some containing noticeable mistakes.

In February 2023, Freed released "See You Starside: The Marathon Soundtrack Reimagined," a reinterpretation of the original "Marathon" soundtrack incorporating influences from 1970s progressive rock, 1980s pop production, and 1990s Japanese video game arrangement albums. The album extends the original soundtrack from 40 minutes to 78 minutes by including new segments composed specifically for this project.

Recent original works by Freed include the albums "Compositions 2023-2024," "Mūsica ex tempore malōrum" (a Latin title meaning both "Music from a Time of Disasters" and "Music After the Opportunity of the Disasters"), and "Κᾰτηγορῐκή ᾰ̓πολογῐ́ᾱ" (romanized as "Kătēgorĭkḗ ăpologĭ́ā," with a deliberately ambiguous Ancient Greek title). These works are available on dedicated webpages.

Freed's music is available in various formats, including FLAC, Ogg Vorbis, AAC/MP4, and MP3, with multiple releases accessible online.
