Biography

Penang native Wu Jiahui (伍家辉) channels his experience of coping with loneliness and a failed relationship into his music. Malaysian singer Wu Jiahui has been mistaken for a woman several times because of his clear, high-pitched voice. But this has not dimmed the Penang native’s ever-brightening prospects. Instead, his unique voice led to his first big break as the voice behind One Half, the hit song from the soundtrack to Singapore's Royston Tan’s local getai (street concert) drama "881". Kelvin Tan, winner of Project SuperStar in 2005, was the original choice to sing the tune. But when the powers that be heard the demo version recorded by Wu, they thought the voice “sounded quite nice and asked if it was a girl”. They gave the newcomer a shot and Wu has continued to find fame, under the guidance of renowned Singaporean songwriter-producer, Eric Ng (Huang Yun Ren).

The now 26-year-old released his debut album, "Although I’m Willing", under Funkie Monkies Production. The company belongs to songwriter-producer Eric Ng, who also arranged 881’s soundtrack.
