Чебоза (Cheboza) is a Russian music project led by Vasily Goncharov, the band’s founder and sole songwriter. Their debut concert was held on October 17, 1999.
In July 2004, the group premiered one of their new tracks on Nashe Radio, performed at Nashestvie and released their debut album, К Востоку от Гринвича, on September 1 via Nikitin Records.
On February 5, 2008, after three years of production, the band released their self-titled second album, Чебоза. This record reflects the influence of Coldplay, Hard-Fi, Kasabian, and The Killers, while their primary inspiration remained Oasis. The album also featured Корней, a guitarist known for his work with Земфира.
That same year, Vasily Goncharov produced the album Модель для сборки for Вячеслав Бутусов.
In late 2009, Чебоза released the single Скажи, their first radio single since their debut album. The track gained airplay on Radio Maximum and Avtoradio. In spring 2010, the music video for Скажи premiered on the A-One channel, reaching the top of the Круче только яйца chart and becoming one of the 20 most-played videos during its first three months.
In May 2010, Vasily Goncharov, under the pseudonym Вяся Обломов, uploaded an animated video for the song Магадан, which quickly went viral, amassing over 300,000 views by August 2010.
In early 2011, Чебоза performed on First Alternative Channel, debuting a new song, Снег Таетt. Vasily promised more new songs soon, while also working on the Вася Обломов solo album.
By popular demand, the single Снег тает was officially released in December 2017. It included three versions: the original, Падает снег, and an acoustic rendition.
Since then, the band has remained inactive. While Goncharov has not officially announced the project’s closure, Чебоза has been on hiatus for years. Meanwhile, the solo project under the name of Вяся Обломов garnered a huge following.
