MONDO CELLO FEST
October 15th-18th Seattle, Portland, S.F. L.A.

The Mondo Cello Fest was started last year as a chance to put as many cello-driven acts that were utilizing the instrument in new and exciting ways—regardless of genre—onto one stage. The idea was to mix the bill with acts who could pack larger venues on their own and worthwhile less-known groups who had never played in such a large setting—mostly due to bookers not knowing where to place a 'cello' act, seen by many as a niche.
From the opening blasts of the mask-wearing soda-spewing grindcore band Thundershevitz!, it was immediately clear that the Mondo Cello Fest was not your typical cello-recital.
The hope of the inaugural event was to offer something new and refreshing,--which it delivered on every count. Many styles of music were represented including neo-classical, jazz, indie-rock, and goth,--the only ties being that the music was cello-based as well as forward-thinking.
The event was a massive success, having a near-capacity crowd at San Francisco's Great American Music Hall. The night went so well that it was immediately decided that the Mondo Cello Fest would become an annual event and here we are.
For this second year, it is, of course, coming to San Francisco again, but also Seattle, Portland, and Los Angeles. Here are the dates and the line-up:

October 15th—Broadway Performance Hall Seattle, WA
October 16th—Aladdin Theater Portland, OR
October 17th—Slim's San Francisco, CA
October 18th—The Unknown Theater Los Angeles, CA

Line-up (6)
