SUMMER SONIC, which made a successful comeback in 2022 after overcoming the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, has sold out for 3 consecutive years. In Osaka, now held at the newly relocated Expo'70 Commemorative Park, the event received tremendous praise and was highly successful, and the summer party that brings together artists and audiences from Japan and around the world will return this year in 2025.
In response to Green Day’s 60,000 capacity sold-out Japan tour, Fall Out Boy and Official Hige Dandism were announced last week. Today’s announcement also added 16 more acts, including The Prodigy, Camila Cabello, aespa, and Chanmina, gradually revealing the festival’s lineup. Another headliner will be announced in the second week of March, and in the third week, SONICMANIA lineup will be revealed, with everything moving quickly as the festival approaches.
SUMMER SONIC is a festival that listens closely to its audience, constantly reflecting and improving. Last year in Tokyo, a stadium allowed the bringing of sports drinks (other than water) and set up water stations throughout the venue. With the goal of creating the most comfortable festival experience, Makuhari Messe’s indoor areas will be enhanced for greater comfort, while the beach area will be made more conceptual and open. In Osaka, under the symbolic and fantastic space of Expo'70 Commemorative Park, the festival will offer even more freedom for everyone to spread their wings.
Now entering its 24th year, who knows what kind of new drama will unfold? Many pioneers, like Radiohead and Green Day, have helped shape the festival’s history, while new heroes, like THE 1975 and Måneskin, have emerged.
