Description
Held in the beautiful Hertfordshire countryside, Standon Calling is the ultimate independent festival: the most fun you can have in a field full of cows without getting arrested! Proudly offering a wholly non-commercial festival experience, from the music performed to the pricing in each of the specially designed bars, it is a celebration of what festivals were born to be: You. Me. Music. Field.
With our roots in a birthday party six years ago, we remain passionate about preserving the intimate and friendly atmosphere that has slowly developed since then. We’re still maturing and appreciate that all the best festivals are allowed to grow at their unique pace. Tickets are available on a word of mouth basis to the friends of friends of previous years.
Despite the fact that a number of this year’s bands have the music press in a right old frenzy, don’t expect anything over-hyped on the bill. Just a delightful mix of genuine high quality acts playing exceptional music - be they buzz, breaking, broken or unheard of.
And afterwards as you float away from Standon – purring and exhilarated – there won't be any need to check that your halo is intact. This is about as ethical and green a festival as you can get: recycling all and sundry and sourcing locally where possible. And if that doesn’t do it, we’re raising money for charity too.
