"The Mighty Mic Benefit Concert was created by student organizations at UCLA to address humanitarian issues locally and abroad. This year the
(2) charities chosen as beneficiaries are The Revolutionary Association of the Women (RAWA) of Afghanistan and Doctor’s Without Borders (DWB/MSF).

CONFIRMED PERFORMERS AT THE EVENT

1) PEACHES - a phenomena; the self-made, self-produced, do-it-yourself leader of the electro punk movement. Unique with her minimal pumping beats and loved by true innovators as diverse as Deborah Harry, Iggy Pop, Bjork, Josh Homme, Lil Kim, Kelis, 2 Many DJs, M.I.A. and LCD Soundsystem not to mention the entire fashion and art world. Her live shows are legendary - a one-woman Kiss concert that has left the pop world in awe! Her songs have been featured in movies such as Mean Girls, Waiting, Jackass Number Two, My Little Eye and Lost in Translation. Her music has also been featured on Showtime's The L Word television series.

4) FAR EAST MOVEMENT - An influential hip-hop group in the rising Asian American music scene, The The group first mixtape, The "Audio Bio" opened the door for FM into television media, gaining them features on the Si TV Network, the AZN TV Network, UPN, and the show 'Crime Scene Investigation' (C.S.I.) "Folk Music." their first single was recently featured in "Fast and Furious 3: Tokyo Drift" and was also included in the soundtrack and videogame.

5) JELLO BIAFRA - The lead singer of the infamous punk band THE DEAD KENNEDYS. Biafra is one of the country's most outspoken supporters of free speech. He has released four albums of material recorded during the spoken word tours that carry him across the country. Jello Biafra also ranks as the first musician ever to be put on trial because of the content of a record album.

6) Raine Maida- Talented front man of the very popular Canadian altern-rock band of the 90's, Our Lady Peace, Raine has begun pursuing solo interests recently to support his political activism, most notably with War Child.
