Description
Hey! Manchester is delighted to be welcoming Steven Adams with his new incarnation, Singing Adams, plus support from Deer Park!
Tickets are available from the bar, Common (both no booking fee), Piccadilly Records, Seetickets.com, WeGotTickets.com and on 0871 220 0260.
Better known as singer/guitarist/songwriter from The Broken Family Band, Steven Adams called time on that outfit at the end of 2009. A year later he’s back with Singing Adams, a new band kicking out super-catchy choruses, great harmonies and showcasing his trademark lyrical incision.
Melinda Bronstein (Wet Paint, Absentee), Matthew Ashton (The Leaf Library, Saloon) and Michael Wood (Michaelmas) bring a wealth of influences to the band, which comes off like a cross between Spoon, Syd Barrett and a Phil Spector compilation. But more fun.
Singing Adams’ debut album is out on 4 April, with a single – the follow up to December′s I Need Your Mind/Amateur Reactions - out the week before.
Support comes in the form of Deer Park, a collective based around the songwriting of Dublin-born, London-based Mark Grassick. Their 2009 debut album featured guest appearances from members of Woodpigeon, the Oxygen Ponies and Stagecoach. Deer Park have toured the UK and Ireland playing shows with bands like the Acorn, Ted Leo & The Pharmacists, Simone Felice, John Vanderslice, Dan Mangan and numerous others. We’d compare them favourably to the Mountain Goats and the Gaslight Anthem.
