ARCHIVE in 1996, brought you the blissed-out classic, 'Londinium'. In 1999, they delivered 'Take My Head', a collection of symphonic torch songs for the New Millennium. In 2002 the band were again treading pastures new. The result was 'You All Look The Same To Me', a self-produced hard-hitting, heart-raw opus. In 2003 they recorded a soundtrack and score for Luc Bessons Michel Vaillant film, and the anthemic sound of the 4th album 'Noise' quickly followed. Long-term Archivists Darius & Danny tweak and refine their soundscapes with taste and flair, scuffing-up a drum-loop here, adding dream-dust there. Baroque-sounding keyboards blend timbres and textures as judiciously as Talk Talk's 'Spirit Of Eden', Portishead's 'Dummy', or My Bloody Valentines 'Loveless'.
CUT OFF YOUR HANDS play a skittering, art-influenced brand of indie rock with a noticeable proto-punk influence as showcased on their debut EP, 'Shaky Hands' which is self-recorded and features the student radio single "You and I". A better description of their sound may come from the influences list which includes post-punk acts like Arab on Radar, Q And Not U, Ex-Models, Gang of Four, The Cure, Death From Above 1979, Whirlwind Heat, Joy Division and Split Enz. They are one of the hot tips from this year's SXSW.
THE WONDERFULS are a new and exciting band fresh out of Brighton's thriving live scene. Mixing a wide variety of influences from The Doors, The Beach Boys, and Eels, to Gomez, The Black Keys and Beck, the band's ethos revolves around quality hook-laden songs, mixed with uplifting harmonies and the tightest, grooviest rhythm section. forming in early 2005, The Wonderfuls have just won the ‘Best Unsigned Band Award’ at this year's BT Digital Music Awards, crammed in over 150 gigs across the south, have been championed by Mark Lamarr and Dermot O’Leary on their BBC Radio 2 shows, as well as receiving airplay on Xfm, BBC Southern Counties Radio, Southern FM and Brighton's Juice FM, along with a mention in the NME's 'New Band Radar' section! A Highlight of 2006 was their slot at the Budweiser K Festival sharing the main stage with Athlete and Goldie Lookin' Chain.
