Talking Through A Slippa – Vocal Improv performance http://www.talkingthroughaslippa.com/Talking Through a Slippa are an improvising vocal duo creating music, soundscapes and surround sound listening experiences. From breathy grating atmospheres to rhythmical clusters that bring to mind swarming creatures, to aggressive guttural beats and ecstatic tribal chants. TTAS draw the listener into a fresh and exciting sound world.

Petrusco, Anna Dumitriu, Bunty ‘Sirens’

Taking inspiration from the story of the “Sirens” in Homer’s Odyssey who lure sailors to their death with their tempting songs promising all the knowledge of the past and future, this immersive performance/installation portrays technology as a contemporary siren. The piece combines video projections (enhanced found footage from YouTube tagged ‘sea’), vocal looping and live experimental performance.

Antje Hildebrand - Concept, Creation and Performance “Open Offer for Elbow Room”

Intentionally un-spectacular, “Open Offer for Elbow Room” takes an ironic approach to presenting performance and its reading; playing with words, language, and political and symbolic references. On the threshold between seriousness and stupidity the performance becomes more and more sophisticated as the simple structure of the work is revealed.

Natasha Davis “Asphyxia” - A new solo performance about suffocation, voicelessness, being trapped and memory. About hearts in boxes, strawberries in jars and a few difficult questions. Mixing film, photography, sound, movement, stories and poetry.

Laboratoro (Ed Briggs, Jim Sanders, Bruno Humberto, Xelís de Toro). Poetry in action with sounds and projections. Combining music, movement, words and visual images through projections, Laboratoro constructs his own poetic language, its own way to navigate through language.

BioArk – Dumitriu, Driessen and BSMS students.

As part of the Sussex University project “Sounding the Site”. Anna Dumitriu is working with Sussex and Brighton students to bring together Bioart and sound, creating a sonic artwork and installation/performance based on the microscopic bacterial flora that has colonised the old Gardner Centre since it’s closure several years ago. The building will re-open in around a year as the flagship “Attenborough Centre for Creative Arts”. In the meantime this work reveals some of the unseen creativity taking place in the building now through the microbial life that has found an ecological niche there. In collaboration with Arif Driessen (University of Brighton student) and students from Brighton and Sussex Medical School (Art and Microbiology SSC) assisted by Dr John Paul (Hon Senior Lecturer BSMS, Dr Ian Cooper (Senior Lecturer University of Brighton) and Dr Simon Park (University of Surrey). www.normalflora.co.uk.

Sounding the Site- Composition from sampled sounds created by bouncing balls on metal/concrete staircases, manhole covers, plastic pipes, metal lampshades at various sites at Sussex University.
