Description
After a rammed 3rd birthday last month with WILL SAUL and MOWGLI, Apocalypso returns with another cracking line-up. Sat April 10th sees two of the most exciting names on the bass scene right now take to the Queen of Hoxton's decks: HOT CITY and WARRIOR ONE.
Not only this but we have a much anticipated anything-goes DJ set from prog-infused space-disco band CHROME HOOF and much more!

HOT CITY's 2-step-garage-for-2010 sound has rather quickly gained the full attention of everyone in the know with DJ support for his productions from the likes of Mary Anne Hobbs, Herve, Drop The Lime, Hudson Mowhawke and Sinden as well as completed podcasts for tastemakers such as Fabric, XLR8R, FACT, Super Super and Dazed (check 'em out here: http://www.mixcloud.com/hotcitybass, they are all great). With all this hype surrounding one guy it won't be long before you can't catch him in such a small venue! Just some of the press:
"Hot City’s ‘Yeah’ on Highpoint Lowlife was one of the best breakthrough singles we’d heard in ages."
FACT Magazine
"One of the most talked about names on the dance scene right now Hot City's recent mix for Mary Anne Hobbs left radios fried across the land"
Clash Magazine
"Hot City’s ‘Yeah’ nails the infectious old skool vibe better than most. An Awe-inspiring package"
DJ Mag
"Hot City looks towards early 90s New York and the height of US Garage, that speaks purely and evocatively of disco lights and glitter"
The Wire
"Hot City’s tracks combine the urbane shuffle and bump of New York House, 2step and old skool rave to emerge with a sound somewhere between the hip and hedonistic"
Plan B
We also welcome WARRIOR ONE, who made quite a stir on the scene towards the end of last year off the back of a fantastic mix tape and some killer DJ sets at places like Fabric, Always Fridays and Bugged Out and, more recently, with their blog smash "Bad Like Jimmy Cliff". Ones to watch for 2010 with their mash up of Bass, UK Funky, Techno and Ragga.
Check out the video for the "Bad Like Jimmy Cliffe" here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4vcO5G4Yp-s
Support downstairs comes from APOCALYPSO resident dancefloor-destroyers DEKKER and JOHN & ON playing proto-booty, acid-disco and other delights.
Upstairs we have DJ sets from bands CHROME HOOF, AGASKODO TELIVEREK and GUM TAKES TOOTH who will be translating the quirky pop-prog-noise they usually create on stage into DJ form and spraying the mind-bending multi-coloured result all over the Queen Of Hoxton's dancefloor. All of this plus the delightful SWEET DREAMS from East London's hipster party GASH! playing grimey pop and bum-slapping bangers alongside Apocalypso resident STEVE BLISS.
Party hard for the Apocalypso is nigh...
