Biography
Cortlen Malik Henry (born January 24, 1999), better known by his stage name YNW Bortlen, is an American rapper, singer, and songwriter from Vero Beach, Florida. YNW Bortlen is co-founder of the music group, YNW and is close friends with incarcerated rapper YNW Melly. Bortlen’s music often draws from his lived experiences, evidenced by his 2019 incarceration for double murder in the first degree of childhood friends YNW SakChaser and YNW Juvy. YNW Bortlen and YNW Melly have yet to be found guilty of such crimes and have yet to even start the trial.
YNW Bortlen released his first single “Came From” on September 19, 2018. On May 24, 2020, Bortlen was granted bond and was released on level two house arrest. While being on house arrest, on August 21, 2020, Bortlen released his second single “Been Thru” on all platforms and it has surpassed 2.9 million views on YouTube. Since then, YNW Bortlen has released five more singles since then. On April 12, 2021, YNW Bortlen was “arrested for violating pre-trial release conditions” and was taken back to custody. During his second incarceration period, he dropped a single named “Dedication”, in collaboration with Hotboii.
