The Pax Cecilia are a post-metal group who recently relocated to Rochester, New York, USA. They released their first album together in 2003 titled “Nouveau: A Theater of Air”. It was a promising first release that combined elements of screamo, classical, and metal.
The band released their second full-length album Blessed Are The Bonds in May 2007. This release shows the band expanding into completely new territory, and displays a maturity and cohesiveness that is far beyond their first album. “Blessed Are The Bonds” uses a heavy mixture of string arrangements and alternate instrumentation to further expand the sonic landscape, and is once again set in a conceptual environment with the song titles, lyrics, music, and artwork all contributing to the story.
Like their first album, “Blessed are the Bonds” was offered free of charge, including full artwork and custom packaging. After sending out nearly all 10,000 copies, the band has made the album available as a free download from their website.

Well as a rule for what makes something "screamo", I don't think it's always slower. But I would agree that generally, screamo bands focus more on different types of emotion than most raw hardcore punk bands who tend to focus on emotions that complement fast in-your-face/simplistic music like anger and frustration. But yeah, there's always bands like Jeromes Dream and Orchid who do a bit of both. Granted, they were near the beginning of the screamo scene. I'm rambling. the Pax Cecilia are great!

I wouldn't say that screamo is necessarily slower. A lot of the emo violence stuff is very fast. And then of course I could point to Flipper and point out a slow hardcore punk band, but what good does it do focus largely on outliers.
